The house was quiet after the chaos of the pool party. Behind her, Tessa could still hear the loud music and splashes as people shouted over each other. She flipped her long, wet, brown hair over her shoulder as she peered through the patio doors into the living room.

No one was around it seemed and she stepped inside, her arms hugging her slim, athletic body as the cool air conditioning washed over her turning the water droplets on her skin cold and tightening her nipples. Spotting the pile of towels, neatly stacked on a stool, she walked over and grabbed one, wrapping it around herself.

The silence was a relief, the comparative darkness a balm. A few minutes of peace before she went back out were exactly what she needed, she decided. Everyone must be outside. Perhaps a quick visit to the bathroom.

The carpet felt soft under her bare feet and she pulled the towel a little tighter around her lithe body as she walked down the hall. Was that, the bathroom door, or was that one of the bedrooms? She paused at the entrance, pushing the door wider open. Biting her lip, she stepped into the bedroom, the thick, plush, pale carpet welcoming her even though she knew she was intruding on a private space.

Her pulse sped up just a little, she was being nosy she knew, but what Mia didn’t know couldn’t hurt her. Standing near the bed, she froze. Eyes wide, breath caught in her throat. They sat right there on Mia’s nightstand, no shame from them.
