Natalie’s signature sparks a lawsuit, but it is the memory of Beatriz’s lips that keeps pulling her under again and again.

Natalie pulled her hand away from her crotch with a start, forcing herself to stop thinking about Beatriz and read the letter in front of her. The simple black and white text spelling out a lawsuit against the company. A lawsuit created by her own actions, by signing the contract for Beatriz. This was worse than she had thought it could possibly get and Natalie really couldn’t afford to keep daydreaming, she had to find a way to end this mess as quickly as possible.

“Jackie.” She called out. “Come in here, please.”

She tapped her foot impatiently, waiting for a response. She knew perfectly well that Jackie had heard her, the old woman just like to make her wait. After an interminable wait, Jackie final ambled into the office, her face fixed in its usual pinched expression.

“You needed something, Natalie?” She always made it sound like it was an inconvenience to her. That lack of respect was like salt in an open wound today.
